Internship
An internship is a mentored first year, paid position, where a new vet school graduate (DVM) serves a year with an experienced practice and learns from the practitioners rather than learning from the school of hard knocks. Please go to this link and select “Avenues” for more information about our Internship program. Prerequisites of Application and Internship: Graduate from veterinary school; application includes a curriculum vitae, three letters of reference, transcript and a letter of intent. Although not necessary for acceptance, visits to the hospital are highly encouraged. Must be a licensed DVM and be able to practice in Illinois and Florida. Foreign graduates if ECFVG approved.
Externship
The goals of the externship are to provide a high level of exposure to broaden the interests and skills of veterinary students. The extern will have the opportunity gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, friendly environment. This program should provide the extern with enough clinical exposure to allow a solid foundation to pursue further studies in equine sports medicine. See our website and the AAEP Avenues website for more information about our extern program. On site housing available. These positions are available year round, 1-6 weeks in duration. Please email and provide a letter of intent, resume, dates you are requesting and whether you require housing. An externship is an unpaid position.
