Our Administrative Team
Practice Manager – Dave Shimanek
Dave received his B.S. Illinois State University and his M.B.A. from Northern Illinois University. Dave came to MAEH from a varied background in industries such as: service, leisure sports, business systems and insurance. He became the Practice Manager at Merritt & Associates in 2007.
In his free time, Dave has served as; a board member on the Fenton District 100 School Board & the National Association of Down Syndrome. He volunteers to support the Down Syndrome community in greater Chicagoland and he enjoys spending time with his wife, three kids and two Labrador retrievers.
Accounting Manager – Judi Krause
Judi was born and raised in Glenview, Illinois. She studied accounting at Oakton Community College and then began working in commercial insurance accounting, specializing in accounts receivable and transaction banking operations. After 11 years in the banking industry, Judi found herself in the midst of a life changing experience, which inspired her to explore new horizons. 2006 led Judi to Merritt & Associates Equine Hospital, where she manages the accounts payable and receivables department. Judi, who is an animal lover, was excited and eager to learn about equine veterinary medicine. She is grateful to the supportive and dedicated staff at MAEH who have aided in expanding her knowledge of horses. The love of her husband and three grown children is her greatest blessing. She enjoys being outdoors, bike riding, walking her two dogs, spending time with friends, and especially traveling to warm places were she can wear her many pairs of flip flops.
Executive Assistant/Scheduler – Christine Price
Christine’s passion for all things equine dates back to her childhood & the family farm down in Southern Illinois. Her love of and genuine caring for horses and horse people, shows in everything she does at Merritt & Associates. Christine is the mother of a fine son, Ben, and a doting grandmother to Luke, June and Aaron. Her leisure time is spent with “Bosco” a brindle Boxer & “Bella” a brindle Boxer/ French Mastiff mix and learning to play the Autoharp.
Pharmacy Manager – Lacey Wildhage
Lacey was born and raised in Fox River Grove, IL. In 2003 she received a B.S. in Equine Business from William Woods University in Fulton, MO. Lacey spent several years after graduation working as a riding Instructor and Assistant Trainer for Hunter/Jumper Farms in the area. She joined Merritt & Associates in 2006 as a Veterinary Assistant so that she could assist in treating and rehabilitating injured horses. On the weekends Lacey, assisted by her dog, Franklin, gives riding lessons and enjoys going to horse shows with her clients. She also enjoys watching movies and shopping with her sister.
Billing Manager – Kris Sanko
Kris grew up on the northwest side of Chicago. She is a huge Chicago sports fan with the Bears, Blackhawks and Cubs being her favorite teams. She coached youth cheerleading for over 8 years and served on the board of the Stateline Comets as Director. Kris loves all animals, great and small, and enjoys “babysitting” for her mom’s 2 horses. Her greatest life accomplishment is being the mother of grown son Brandon, daughter Kassidy and her two “fur-kids”, Bubba and Dallas, (English bulldogs). In her leisure time, Kris loves spending time with her family biking and boating on the Chain O’ Lakes and vacationing in tropical destinations with beautiful sandy beaches.
Veterinary Services Manager – Jennifer Bunker
Jennifer grew up in the Midwest and spent most of her childhood in Mundelein. She attended Butler University where she received her BS in Secondary Education. Jenn spent several years in the education field and as a member of the support staff at an outpatient physical therapy clinic. As a lifelong animal lover, Jennifer is excited to be a part of the MAEH team. In her free time she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and walking with her beagle-bulldog mix, Sadie.
